Went home to see our parents Easter weekend... on the way back, we passed this great sign:
Play Ball!

Thank gawd, Baseball is finally here (although I still have another week before my fantasy team The Disco Diamonds, takes the field). The Boston Red Sox got rained out for their season opener but I did find this great newspaper article at work:
The Sox were in Los Angeles for Spring Training (there was no L.A. team in either league at that time) and won a close game against the Detroit Tigers. Here's a great picture of some of the 1911 team at Redondo Beach.
It's worth noting that this was also pre-Fenway; back then, the Red Sox still played at the Huntington Avenue Grounds but 1911 was the last season they would play in that park.
Looks like the weather is going to cooperate this afternoon -- good luck, Sox!
P.S.: Why would this be hanging around the New York City Fire Museum? Because March 25, 1911 was the day of the Triangle Shirtwaist Fire.
