Today, Jan. 20, 2009, I took the day off. My gal and I walked down to Smooch to watch the inauguration of our 44th president on the big screen... Then we went across the street to celebrate at Red Bamboo!

Yesterday was a pretty exciting day in New York City! Besides a US Airways jet making a spectacular water landing in the Hudson, there was this cab fire outside the uptown Spring Street subway stop in Soho.

Sometimes the cell phone camera warps images in interesting ways... this is of our recent snow that I took on the way back from the Classon Ave stop on the G (looking toward DeKalb).

This year we went to the Bowery Ballroom to see the fantastic Patti Smith. A great way -- maybe one of the best ways -- to rock into the new year. By the time we got back to Brooklyn we had a craving for... pancakes and french fries! Luckily, the famous Junior's on Flatbush Ave was happy to help: Trust me, it looks a lot more appetizing at 3 in the morning.
